electrial surge damage

As long as your electrical devices are plugged into a surge protector are they in any danger of getting fried? Thunder and probably lightening tonight and I just set up my 360 in my room :O

As long as your surge protector is of decent quality, it'll be fine. You also have to make sure that your power strip actually has surge protection. Most power strips have them, but not all. There may be some power strips that may not have surge protection but are erroneously called surge protectors.

Surge protectors have different ratings that determine how effective it is against voltage spikes. It is mostly proportional to how much you're willing to pay for one. With that said, don't spend more than $50, but don't spend under $10.

Surge protectors also burn off after taking a number of voltage spikes. They will still function as power strips. This is why you should get a surge protector that indicates that your electronics are protected, because when you find out that its surge protection features have ceased, it's usually too late.
